The Drive One app closes down by itself - Android

If you use an Android phone and the app does not connect to your device, or you need to open the app to connect, there are a few things to look for.

Check if you have the Drive One notification

You can always see if the app is running in the background by checking for the Drive One notification, which indicates whether it is connected to the device or not.

If you have this notification, it means that it is running and ready to connect/is connected to a Drive One.

Swipe down from the top of the screen to check for the notification.

Open the app if you have recently restarted your phone

If you have recently restarted the phone, you may need to open the app again, as Android does not re-open apps automatically.

If you restart your phone often, you might be able to set the app to start automatically after restart.

Disable battery optimization

If the app keeps closing down by itself, it might be due to Android's built-in battery optimization, which can close apps automatically. If this is the case, the Drive One app can close down after a while, meaning that it will not be active while you drive.

The solution to this is to stop Android from closing the app automatically, ensuring that it always runs in the background.

Below you can see how to prevent Android from shutting down Drive One by disabling battery optimization for the Drive One app.

Note: The exact guidelines for your device will vary, since there are many different variants of Android.
