The Drive One app needs permission to access your location. That's how it can tell where you are driving and give you the warnings you need.
The permission matters just as much for the connection between the Drive One device and the app. The app and the device can only stay connected when location permission is set to "Always". This also applies when the app is running in the background or your screen is off.
Does the app use your location when you're not using it?
No. Even with the permission set to "Always", the Drive One app does not track where you are when you're not using it. The permission just needs to be there so the app can give you warnings and stay connected to the device while you drive.
If you haven't given the necessary access, neither the Drive One device nor the app will work as intended. You risk missing warnings and losing the connection to the device.
When you open the Drive One app, it checks whether it has the permissions it needs.
On both iOS and Android, Drive One requires:
- location permission set to "Always"
- "Precise Location" turned on
